Parallel Benchmarks and Comparison-Based Computing

چکیده
Non-numeric algorithms have been largely ignored in parallel benchmarking suites. Prior studies have concentrated mainly on the computational speed of processors within very regular and structured numeric codes. In this paper, we survey the current state of non-numeric benchmark algorithms and investigate the use of in-place merging as a suitable candidate for this role. In-place merging enjoys several important advantages, including the scalability of eecient memory utilization, the generality of comparison-based computing and the representativeness of near-random data access patterns. Experimental results over several families of parallel architectures are presented.

Parallel computing is a topic of interest for a broad scientific community since it facilitates many time-consuming algorithms in different application domains. In this paper, we introduce a novel platform for parallel computing by using MPI and OpenMP programming languages based on set of networked PCs. UMZHPC is a free Linux-based parallel computing infrastructure that has been developed to cr...
متن کاملGreen Energy-aware task scheduling using the DVFS technique in Cloud Computing
Nowdays, energy consumption as a critical issue in distributed computing systems with high performance has become so green computing tries to energy consumption, carbon footprint and CO2 emissions in high performance computing systems (HPCs) such as clusters, Grid and Cloud that a large number of parallel. Reducing energy consumption for high end computing can bring various benefits such as red...
متن کاملOptimization of Agricultural BMPs Using a Parallel Computing Based Multi-Objective Optimization Algorithm
Beneficial Management Practices (BMPs) are important measures for reducing agricultural non-point source (NPS) pollution. However, selection of BMPs for placement in a watershed requires optimizing available resources to maximize possible water quality benefits. Due to its iterative nature, the optimization typically takes a long time to achieve the BMP trade-off results which is not desirable ...
متن کاملBenchmarking and Comparison of the Task Graph Scheduling Algorithms
Abstract The problem of scheduling a parallel program represented by a weighted directed acyclic graph (DAG) to a set of homogeneous processors for minimizing the completion time of the program has been extensively studied. The NP-completeness of the problem has stimulated researchers to propose a myriad of heuristic algorithms. While most of these algorithms are reported to be efficient, it is...
متن کاملNAS Parallel Benchmarks I/O Version 2.4
We describe a benchmark problem, based on the Block-Tridiagonal (BT) problem of the NAS Parallel Benchmarks (NPB), which is used to test the output capabilities of high-performance computing systems, especially parallel systems. We also present a source code implementation of the benchmark, called NPBIO2.4MPI, based on the MPI implementation of NPB, using a variety of ways to write the computed...
